Grace Passes: All of the above activities are required for all Candidates. However, there are times when illness, family or other obligations can prevent a Candidate from attending a scheduled activity. Therefore, each Candidate will be given 2 Grace Passes to be used during the year. In order to use this pass, a parent must text to +1 (424) 703-3525 or email Joe Voigt prior to the workshop. Once a student uses 2 passes, it is expected that he/she will be at every scheduled activity. Grace Passes cannot be used the Confirmation Retreat.
2. SERVICE HOURS
Each Confirmation candidate must complete 20 hours of service work per year. Service Hour Sheets must be completed, turned in and presented in their workshops on the following dates: 1st Ten (10) or more hours: January 31, 2016
2nd Ten (10) : April 10, 2016
If Candidate completes, turns in and present their 20 hours at the January 31, 2016 workshop they do not have to present on April 10, 2016, unless they want to present hours for Confirmation 2.
3. RETREAT
A. Confirmation 1 Retreat (Must attend this retreat or another parish's year 1 retreat) - Christ Cathedral - 13280 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92840 on Saturday, February 6, 2016 - (8am - 8pm) Drop off and pick up will be at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish Hegarty Hall. If the candidate can not make this retreat, they will need to attend another parishes year 1 retreat.
4. RITUAL

5. SUNDAY MASS ATTENDANCE
The Mass and the Eucharist are the very center of our Catholic faith. The obligation to attend Sunday and Holy Day Masses and to avoid unnecessary work on those days is a responsibility for all Catholics. We expect all of our Candidates to understand and accept the rule, which is based on the Third Commandment. The Confirmation classes will attend Mass together at the Sunday 5pm on the nights of their confirmation workshops. In addition, all Candidates must participate in four masses as an usher, greeter, lector or choir member. If a candidate cannot attend mass, a parent must call/text to +1 (424) 703-3525 or email Joe Voigt prior to the workshop. No candidate will be excused from mass without this prior notification.
6. YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAM
Each year of Confirmation candidates will be expected to attend at least three (3) Youth Ministry Nights (LinC) and/or LinC events of their choosing. We are asking each candidate to complete this requirement by the following schedule:
First (1) LinC by: November 22, 2015
Two (2) LinC's by: January 31, 2016
Three (3) LinC's by: March 20, 2016
7. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
All students are required to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during both the seasons of Advent and Lent.
8. SAINT REPORT
Confirmation 1 Candidates are required to present information about their Confirmation Name (Saint Name) at their 4th workshop on January 31, 2016.
9. PARENT MEETINGS
Parents and/or guardians must attend both a Start of Program Meeting and Registration Meeting. Each meeting will be offered twice and only twice. The meeting times, dates and locations are as follows:

10. VIRTUS REQUIREMENT
All parents will need to complete the VIRTUS training program (child protection and safety) for their candidates’ registration to be accepted. VIRTUS is a three hour in-person training that is held throughout the year at St. Margaret Mary Parish and at other parishes in the archdiocese. You can find out more about VIRTUS and register for training on the VIRTUS website: www.virtus.org. We are in the Los Angeles - San Pedro Region.
11. PARENT FORMATION
As part of our movement towards Whole Community Catechesis, St. Margaret Mary Religious Education has implemented a parent component for all of our programs. What does this mean? Now, instead of just your children receiving faith formation, you, too, will meet with other parents and share faith, grow in knowledge of church traditions and values and, most importantly, foster community. Parent Faith Formation attendance at any 5 programmed events or be an RE Catechist, an Active member of the Holy Name, Knights of Columbus, Woman Society is a requirement for all parents/guardians of children in all Religious Education Program
